This could very well turn out to be Danny Rose's breakthrough season in his short career so far. The Englishman has been sensational for Sunderland this season, and has perhaps been their most consistent player behind Simon Mignolet and Steven Fletcher. In fact many would consider him unlucky to have missed out on nominations for the PFA young player of the year awards.
The 22-year-old, who was signed by Tottenham Hotspur from Leeds United back in 2007, has spent most of his career on loan so far. After spending timer at Watford, Petersborough United and Bristol City early on in his career, Danny Rose was signed on loan by Sunderland at the start of the season.
But now the Black Cats are reportedly interested in signing the England U-21 international permanently. Former Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill was highly impressed with Rose during his stint and now his successor at the club, Paolo Di Canio, has urged the board to sanction a move for him in the summer.
Danny Rose, is yet to disclose his plans for the future and the Englishman, who represented Great Britain at the Olympics, has said that his priority at the moment is to secure Sunderland's Premier League status.
'That has changed and it's not the time for me to go speaking to the new manager about what he wants for next season.
'The main priority is to have Premier League status for next year. Once that's sorted, once we are safe, I'm sure there will be a conversation to be had. I know what I want to do next year and we will just see what happens.' – Danny Rose was quoted in press.
But it looks unlikely that Tottenham would want to let go of the young starlet on a permanent deal . It is believed that the London club might look to make Danny Rose a regular starter in the first team next season, following his impressive performances and Benoit Assou-Ekotto's indifferent form this season. It would be hard for Rose to turn down Tottenham Hotspurs if they offer him regular first team action.
