Real Madrid vs. Real Betis: Preview and TV schedule - SBNation.com

Madrid and Mourinho won't be catching Barcelona (in all likelihood) so their focus will probably be on the Champions League as Real Betis look for points to stay in the race for a European spot next season.

Real Betis will be looking for a repeat of their victory over Real Madrid from November as they travel to Madrid looking to stay in he hunt for a European place.

Real Madrid welcome Real Betis to the Bernabéu will their minds surely focused forward on Borussia Dortmund and the Champions League. Their chances of catching Barcelona look slim to none, but Mourinho would probably like to keep the pressure of them without losing a key starter.

Betis are two points back of Valencia and Malaga (who play one another this week) and will be looking for points to keep pressure on them in the race for European spots. Pepe Mel will be without two defenders but should have forward Nosa Igiebor available for selection.

Out: Xabi Alonso (suspended), Michael Essien (muscle strain). In doubt: Kaka (hamstring), Alvaro Arbeloa (back), Mesut Özil (illness).

Betis will be without two defenders with Nacho out with a broken toe and Mario still recovering from a hamstring strain. Striker Nosa Igiebor is a minor doubt. Xabi Alonso is suspended for Madrid while Michael Essien is still not back from a muscle injury. Kaka, Arbeloa and Özil all could play but could be held back for the mid-week.
