A Newcastle United shirt signed by Alan Shearer and the late Bobby Robson has been taken from the kids' ward in North Tyneside A common view of North Tyneside General Hospital Callous robbers have stole a loved signed Newcastle United top from a children's ward in North Tyneside. The valued 2002 shirt, signed by Alan Shearer, the late Bobby Robson and other members of the group, was taken from its shape from the play space in the Childrenas Ward at North Tyneside General Hospital, between Monday April 15 and Wednesday April 17. Newcastle United includes a long-standing connection with the ward, run by Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. In 2002, Alan Shearer opened the refurbished ward and participants come to the hospital at Xmas to give presents to the young people. Ward director Carole Clayton said: "We just canat genuinely believe that someone could stoop so low. The staff and children are heartbroken and really angry and disappointed. Shock were so delighted that the top was provided to the ward and pleasure have been given by it to the tens of thousands of people who've used the ward over the last 11 years - for anyone to take this only beggars belief. Amazement wish that someone somewhere has information regarding the clothing as we would really like it to be returned." A Newcastle United spokesman said: aNewcastle United were very unhappy to hear the news a closed top has been taken from the Childrenas Ward at North Tyneside hospital and could appeal for its return at the first opportunity. aWeare told the kids enjoy considering the top and often make an effort to discover the names of the participants, such as Alan Shearer and Shay Given, so itas a truly very callous work by whoever was in charge of this meaningless and thoughtless theft.a LAPTOP Andy Wait said: "This clothing was remarkably popular with the youngsters on the ward and we are appealing for the public's help to determine the heartless thief who took it. "We are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious at around that point, or who is offered the clothing for sale, to contact police on 101 ext 69191, or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
