Jon Jones Desires to Combat Alexander Gustafsson, Maybe John Henderson Next

Despite the fact that UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones has mentioned the possibility of heavyweight and superfight matchups (via Sherdog), he still doesn't think he is cleansed his department yet. "Bones" described surging 205-pound contender Alexander Gustafsson and former PRIDE and Strikeforce champion Dan Henderson as two competitors he is currently thinking about fighting. The Greg Jackson's MMA standout said just as much in a Sportsnation talk with ESPN Tuesday afternoon. Jones replied with Gustafsson, if there clearly was any fresh experience he'd like to meet in the cage when asked. "The Mauler" may be the winner of six right, including four finishes, recently whipping former UFC champ Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at UFC on FOX 5 in December. To arrive at No. 2 on the UFC's official light heavyweight rankings, Gustafsson was designed to welcome former Strikeforce subject holder Gegard Mousasi at UFC on FUEL 9 earlier in the day this month. But, the Swedish MMA Federation would not clear Gustafsson to fight as a result of cut experienced over his right eye (via MMA Junkie) and was instead replaced by teammate Ilir Latifi, who lost a lop-sided decision. Additionally, Jones said he'd want to consider preventing Henderson, must he be victorious over Rashad Evans at UFC 161 in June. "Depending on what he does against Rashad Evans, yes," Jones wrote in reaction to a question asking if he'd still want to fight Henderson at some point in his career. Prior to a close decision loss to Lyoto Machida at UFC 157 in February, "Hendo" had won four straight and was set to handle Jones for the light heavyweight band at UFC 151 in September. However, Henderson suffered a knee injury shortly days consequently (via UFC.com) before the show and the event was fundamentally ended. Are Jones versus. Gustafsson or Jones vs. Henderson matchups still worth seeing in the UFC's light heavyweight division? Of course, this conversation could be all for nothing if Jones can not work through Chael Sonnen in the primary event of UFC 159 this Saturday, which takes place at the Prudential Center in Newark, Nj.
