Pardew: Laudrup was one of my playing heroes - ChronicleLive

ALAN PARDEW has revealed his admiration for Michael Laudrup as he prepares to tackle the Capital One Cup winners tomorrow.

Pardew admits that ex-Real Madrid and Barcelona ace Laudrup was one of his favourite players of all time, but reckons the fact the Dane took the job as Swansea boss tells you everything you need to know about him as a man. Laudrup would not leave St James' Park in the reverse fixture until he had caught up with Pardew during the post-match interviews to wish him all the best for the rest of the season.

And speaking of his admiration of the global great, Pardew told the Chronicle: "He was a fantastic player – he was one of my favourite players.

"I think it's a great club and they set a great agenda. The board have done well there. They've had good managers, and they've got their just desserts for an ambitious style."

United lost 2-1 to Swansea in the reverse fixture back in November but now he feels that City are up against a different proposition.

"That's the difference. I've got great players to put in this team now. They'll be as worried about us as we are about them."
