Abraham, Turner latest stars now free

NY (AP) a The free agency frenzy does not begin until March 12. Tell that to general managers who've started flooding the market with veterans they've cut a' people who could sign with any team at any time. Joining that class Friday were such former Pro Bowl players John Abraham and Michael Turner, launched by Atlanta along side cornerback Dunta Robinson. Also available is 2009 Defensive Player of the Year Charles Woodson; the Green Bay Packers let the defensive right back go last month. While people whose contracts have expired can not change handles for another 11 days, the so-called "street free agents" now available can ties groups straight away. That's already happened with former Buffalo protection George Wilson, who signed with the Titans, and it really can occur again ahead of the likes of Mike Wallace, Jake Long, Reggie Bush and Greg Jennings on crime or Dwight Freeney, Anthony Spencer, Paul Kruger and Cliff Avril on safety become available. Wilson was desired by Tennessee for reasons that stretch beyond the field, and Woodson also can fall under that class. Tune in to what Titans standard director Ruston Webster states about Wilson, who twice was Buffalo's Walter Payton Man of the Season nominee: "George is really a quality expert player. He'll add for all of us on the field, but his efforts also will come off the field, in the locker room and in the meetings locations. He was respected as a head and a basketball player throughout his occupation in Buffalo, and he'll provide that veteran existence to the team." The 36-year-old Woodson would be a good easily fit into a young second needing an increase of savvy and physicality, most likely as a security. Indianapolis and such landing areas as New England, Cleveland can perhaps work. Abraham has a record of nagging injuries and he'll almost certainly be a situational pass rusher at age 35 next year. Still, any club trying to find such a boost could do worse than Abraham, who had 10 bags as a part-timer when the Falcons went 13-3 this past year. Turner no longer seems effective at being an every-down right back, but his fast feet and power may help a team that's an existing beginner but no proven backup. Or an offense with a fast running right back and little inside existence. Tennessee, Cleveland and Green Bay may find him attractive at the right value. Ah, price. A significant reason these players are unemployed right now is income. Atlanta saved about $16 million in hat room having its three cuts Friday. The New York Jets opened up $31 million if they released linebackers Calvin Pace and Bart Scott, protection Eric Smith and handle Jason Smith last month. Naturally, you will find other factors, including age, health, depth at a posture, a big change in coaching staffs and, of course, production. People such as Packers heart Jeff Saturday and Carolina DT Ron Edwards only may be at the end of the line. Iowa City small end Kevin Boss got onto the subject for only two games in 2012. The Saints' David Thomas was disposable since Jimmy Graham is amongst the best limited ends around, and New Orleans prefers to insert the subject with wideouts along with Graham. Philadelphia produced DTs Cullen Jenkins and Mike Patterson when Chip Kelly was used as instructor. The Jets' Pace and Scott and Chiefs receiver Steve Breaston turned overpriced when their on-field efforts slipped dramatically. Oddly, many of those participants currently available number to be left waiting until days in to total free organization before they find new domiciles. Some teams can give out big bonuses and long-term offers to Jennings, Kruger et al. Then they will seek methods to easily fit in the others. And don't be surprised to visit a some of the current free providers end up back where they started a for much less money.
