Napoli striker Edinson Cavani, who has been linked with Chelsea and Manchester City, could reportedly be on his way to Real Madrid this summer.
Cavani, who has been on Chelsea's radar for some time, has also been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain in recent weeks.
City coach Angelo Gregucci recently confirmed the club are keen on luring the Uruguay international to the Etihad Stadium, and manager Roberto Mancini last week admitted he was a fan of the forward.
But according to the Daily Mail, Real have now emerged as serious contenders to land Cavani at the end of the season and club executives have opened talks with the player's advisors as they look to strengthen their squad over the summer.
Cavani has a £55million buy-out clause in his contract at the Stadio Sao Paolo and Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis recently insisted he would not sell entertain selling his prize asset for anything less than that figure.
